Image Rights & Attribution

TatSeek is a photo catalogue. Here is how we handle attribution and rights, and what to do if you find your work here.

Who owns a tattoo image

It depends. The artist who made the tattoo is not automatically the copyright holder of a photograph of it; the studio is not; a photographer may hold rights of their own. It varies with the circumstances and the jurisdiction. TatSeek does not claim authorship of the photographs it shows.

Why an image is on TatSeek

Each photo is here because it was submitted by the studio, submitted by the artist, drawn from a public portfolio, or attached to an existing profile. The credit bar on every photo reads “Tattoo by” — crediting the artist for the tattoo, which is the fact we can stand behind — and links to the source it was based on.
